Exactly what kind of problem is this recall/owner notification program addressing? My blower switch moves to all of the settings and pushes air out at the appropriate levels, but a couple times when I've switched it to defrost, instead of decent air flow and the standard fan noise, I've gotten basically zero air flow and a strange muffled sound instead. When this happened, there was zero defrosting capability. Most recently it happened while my dad was driving the car and he nearly got into an accident b/c he couldn't see.
Does this sound like something that will be solved by this recall fix? My 95 SE has 66k miles; I've had it for a year and 15k miles. My previous Contique, a 96 Mystique LS bought new, had the same problem 2-3 times in the 3 years I owned it.

My recollection is the recall said that the problem to be fixed was that the blower switch would not work in some positions. They will fix this problem if it occurs...up to 150,000 miles, if I recall correctly.

I just got this notice in the mail recently for my 95 contour and still have it at home. If anyone is interested I can take a look at it tonight and post the accurate details tomorrow.

Just made my appointment. After I MADE the advisor look up my car in OASIS he said it looks like 99M07 applies in my case. (Butt-head didn't want to do the lookup until they "looked at the car and determined what the actual problem was". Since I already know what the problem is, I was very insistent that he go into OASIS so the idiots there don't do a whole bunch of unnecessary work. Arrgh, Ford dealers!)

I had this problem a few months ago before the recall was publicized. Found out about recall from the guy at the parts counter. I decided to just buy the parts and do the work myself to save time and bother. Parts cost about $50. Included a new blower motor resistor( the connector was melted!) and a new pig-tail wiring assy. The new wires are of a much larger gauge than the oem. The pn for the pig-tail assy.(inclueds pre-wired connector and wire splices)is: F5RZ-14A411-CA
If you do the work yourself, it's only a 30min job. You may or may not need a new resistor, I had to replace mine because the connector had obviously overheated.
