Mechanic told me that the oil around the spark plug threads is caused by a leaky valve cover gasket. Priced out at $16.82 at Ford. Im sure you could get cheaper at pepboys or autozone but I wanted original motorcraft parts. As long as the oil has not reached the tips or the electrodes part of the plugs, then your ok .. Most probable cause is bad valve cover gasket.
