Well here is my dilemma...
I just upgraded my amp; from a 612 Watt Rockford Fosgateto a new Power Acoustik Area 51 520x2 amp in to go with my Pioneer Premier 800W 12's. The amp is actualy a friend of mine's and hes letting me borrow it for a while. When we put it in he bridged it. My system was hitting really hard for a while, and I played around with it a little. I don't now anything about audio stuff, and now they hit a lot softer, still harder than the old amp, but no where near where they used to be? Did I blow the amp, or the subs? Can anyone give me an idea as to what maybe have happened?

ok i think i can help. im not quite sure buy i will try. your 520x2 am that means only 260 watts are going out each channel if each speaker is connected to the amp sepretley they will hit hard but not as loud. you got less power coming out of the amp. even 100 watts diffrence will change the loudness of the subs alot! if this does not help please let me know i will try to explain better

Well, that make sense, but why did my system suddenly go from loud and hard to quiet and distorted?

heck to see if a positive and negative speaker wire are touching anywhere in your car. If none are touching see it the pos and neg wires in your subs are set up right (pos on amp to pos on speaker neg on amp to neg on speaker) it they are conected right just flip them to see (sometimes we think they are correct but they are not) if that doesnt work go to your local sterieo shop they might be able to see the problem.

This is also very important, be sure you have a GOOD ground. In many cases its something as simple as a bad ground, double check the wiring. Also if you were "messing" around with it maybe you turned down the gain on the amp or something? Just let your friend (assuming he knows his car audio) take a look at it.

I know the problem isnt with the levels, I know enough about electronics to know that the amp is not functioning properly.. I'm gunna check my ground and all my connections and see how it goes.. Thanks guys
