Does anyone know where I could get a replacement cupholder for my '97 Contour (104,000 mi. and still going strong)?
Also, can a "double" holder be used? I've got a 5-speed and I know the autos came with one, but not my original.

Wrecker best source. I wasn't aware that mtx was different than my atx double. Double designed so that if in use and pass seat moved one breaks, leaving only one (my current situation).
Check the mod section from home page 'cause I believe Ford puts out a single replacement for double.

Yep, you only get 1 cup holder witht the MTX. The single and dual cup holders look the same it size (as a module). So I can't see why you can't swap them out. If we trade my wifes contour for a minvan, then I will swap mine out with hers.

The double cupholder is no longer available new from Ford. The replacement for both the original double and original single (as equipped with manual trans) is a much stronger single. When you replace it, no matter which one you end up with, make sure that you get the correct bezel for it. There are at least three different bezels.

only one of mine will come up, i like the idea of having two though, so maybe when i go to junkyard for a few other things, i'll also get cupholders.

The 'double' can spill, when shifting a MTX. I have used a double 'wrecker model' in my MTX, until it broke (internally). Wrecker models are getting harder to find!

After putting in the pre 98 center console I went to the ford dealer for the shift indicator and cupholder. For the 2 pieces of the cup holder they quoted me $80.00!!!!!!!
Ummmm...I think a junkyard is the best place.
