Alicia, post your VIN and somebody will check OASIS (service database) for you. Or call your local Ford dealer and they can do the same, but who really wants to deal with Ford if you don't have to?

4cylmys i was wondering if you could do the same for me, i curious to know if my car is running the original water pump, if it is i am going to change it out, the car has 96,000 on it now.

Dusten, e-mail me your vin and I'll be happy to help. If the water pump has been replaced under warranty (extended warranty if you have it) within the last year, it will show up. Oasis shows a one year warranty history. justin_panzke@hotmail.com

I took my 98 Coutour to LaSalle Ford here in Montreal Canada for the recall. I told them what I read on this website about the "thunking" sound of the retainer kits once installed. They told me there "was" a problem with this and Ford rectified the problem by making some sort of alteration to the inner fender liner. I haven't had any problems with the recall installation kit. Hope this helps!

Dealer told me the same thing but still couldn't get it to stop. It may just have to do with the way they are installed and which tech does them.

Had the same problem and the guy at the dealership told me it was the sway bay ends. "we'll fire those on for ya, cost ya about $275 to $300"
Tomorrow he WILL take them off.
