First off let me say, sorry about having to replace the engine.
IIRC, you just bought that car and haven't had it on the road, legally yet, due to the failed smog test right? That's too bad but it's a lesson learned. So, I've had my engine replaced...twice. The first time, they replaced it with an engine that leaked a lot of oil. Beyond repairable..thanks to a friend. So the next time they replaced it, it was fine. I replaced the clutch while it was apart. There are the normal quirks that will need to be worked out...such as misc. CEL lights and or little noises that may bother you. My new engine has been in for ~68K miles now and it's running fine. Good luck in the search for another engine...Hope you get a good price. You may want to check around online. Do a search for used parts or something and I think you will find some websites that you can get some salvage parts. Sorry for the novel.
