Looks like I have to replace the engine on my 95 Mystique V6. My question is; do things run ok or are you just constantly having problems? I'de love to here your opinions on replcement engines. Thanks :rolleyes:

mine is running great just get everything u need i replaced my clutch while it was apart with a kevlar unit and lightened the flywheel,i had a few bugs the guy broke the plug 4 my altenator but after that its been great

well i just bought it so i don't really know but the mechanic said that it looked like it ran out of oil at one point.

my car blew a plug out while i was running it hard that seems 2 have spun a bearing

I too had my engine replaced but the reason mine went bad was because of the 95 timing chain problem. If you owners with a 95 V6 hear a clatter upon startup you probably by now need a new engine. That clatter was the timing chains rapping against the tensioner, but this is normal. The abnormal thing is in our engines there is little to no oil in there at initial startup  . That in turn after years of starts puts metal chips throughout the engine. What failed on mine was the oil pick up tube was clogged with chips and this thus caused a lack of oil pressure throughout the engine  . And this goes without saying, it was bad. Afterwards my engine ran fine, but while it was being worked on coincidentally the A/C condensor was ruined. Insurance covered everything but the coolant, extra oil (6.5 quarts), and the refrigerant.

Mine runs fine after replacement. A new engine from Ford will likely run you $5000 for the V6, due to the complexity of DOHC.

JeremyP, how was your insurance company able to cover the motor? I have full coverage and I've never heard of that before. Heck if its 5k for the motor, then its not worth fixing it since my car is only worth 5900. lol.
