This guy I know (whom I don't like very much, so I won't use the term friend) got one of those. It really is a beautiful car. For me I'd still get the WRX even if it's a little more cheap feeling. I am not sure if they are all spoken for or not but I would imagine you can find out.

A guy at work just got a WRX in a strange yellow color (all his cars have been yellow). He got the 18" rims and then custom leather. The leather looks nice and was supposedly like 1200 dollars extra. Nice car, but wish it had a sunroof and wasn't so damn loud (at idle even).

The yellow is probably the new yellow color for 2003.. Leather is added at the dealership, which is why it's so expensive. Did he maybe get an aftermarket exhaust (STi or other), because the few WRX's I've driven have all been really quiet??

He loves the yellow, well rare colors. His A4 he sold to get the WRX was a canary yellow, supposedly pretty rare. I don't know about the exhaust. The car was in a parking garage, so that could account for some of the noise. However, my car is parked nearby and mine isn't as loud - deeper, but not nearly as loud. I'll check for the exhaust on Monday when I go to work.

Well, I'm interested in the MazdaSpeed Protege. I've contacted Rockland Mazda, and they say they will have them in November. They are going to contact me once they get a BLACK one...
oooooooooooohhhh BLACK
Can't wait...
If it's not everything Mazda says it is...zoom...zoom...zoom..., then I'm off to see what a deal I can get on a Subaru WRX STi.
The MazdaSpeed Protege has gotten some really excellent reviews, and the Mazda Protege itself was chosen, by Car & Driver, as the best small car under $20k, beating out Ford's FOCUS (#4)...

Unfortunately, I've heard the STi would be out until like late 2003.

Subaru sells a cat back exhaust as an option for the car. It's supposed to void the warranty, but I heard many dealers will honor the warranty if you buy it with the car and they install it.

It's more of a loud engine than a loud exhaust.
