This copper spray, does it contain actual copper particles ? It be ok to use on cast iron block, but not sure if it I'd be using on aluminum?
Galvanic action of dissimilar metals. I know from my solar collector installations, copper is on the + side and aluminum is on the - side. Copper & aluminum will corrode each other very quickly.
Yes, that's good advice, and very true. I know this from owning a boat. Most antifouling bottom paints these days have lots of copper in them. If you use this paint on the alumimum outdrive of the engine, the copper will eat the aluminum at a rapid rate, using salt water as a catalyst to hasten the process. It's amazing what galvanic corrosion will do between copper and aluminum.
When I changed my water pump, I just replaced the gasket with a new one, and made sure the surfaces were clean. I didn't use any sealants, and no leaks at all. I never use any liquid sealants unless it specifically asks for it, or if I get a leak without it first.
