98 wiring diagram, the best way to modify and control the AC is pull the HVAC contol panel and series wire a switch of your choice. violet/orange wire
Doesn't need to be that heavy (current wise)because all it controls is the "AC clutch relay and here's the important part the signal to the PCM. That's how the PCM knows the AC is select and of course with the actual load removed Hmmm?
Note: somewhere (behind left side of the dash panel) is a connection (S167 for those of you that might have Ford's EVTM diagrams I don't just a Mitchell's) vio/org from HVAC control, vio/blk goes to AC clutch relay and vio/org to the PCM. Make sure your switch controls both!
I haven't done this yet but once I find a switch that suits me and I get use of my left hand & right shoulder returns think I'll look there first, rather than removing the HVAC panel.

My 89 Probe still all orginal came from the factory with a seperate control for AC
the way it should be!
