I own a 2000 Contour SVT thats is under a recall for the dashboard. Its actually called the "instrument panel cover warpage" and the recall # is 01B78. You will have to scedule an appointment to have a tech check it out first and then set up and appointment to have it replaced. Seeing how its really new I don't think they'll have alot of dashboards laying around to be installed. To see the warpage just look around the defroster vent and you'll see the dash lip "lifting" around the vent. Check it out

thanks roger, i appreciate it. those pics dont reflect the painted grill on the rear bumper though.

its took less than a week actually, i was surprised. so far so good and it appears to be quieter, believe it or not. i really though twice about doing this...my thoughts were once you break a factory seal you are asking for trouble.

on a side note, when i picked up my car the tech said he add trouble with it at first so it should have taken less time. he flat out told me to my face that "our guys hate working on these damn contours"...can you believe it??? pretty rude imho.

Thanks alot Chris laugh I have an appointment on Thursday the 30th to have the tech inspect it and see if its covered under the recall, which I'm sure it is! I really would have hoped that they have a couple of the dash kits on hand, my luck will be that the tech will inspect and THEN have one ordered mad I have no patience for stuff like this. By the way another question...is this just the padded part thats getting replaced or the entire dash? I also have the BNM white faced gauges and don't want those thrown away with the defective dash. Thanks for the replies.

The entire dash is replaced, but the new one does not come with gauges, trim, climate controls, radio, etc... They will swap all of those things over to the new dash.
