It is hard for me to believe that the I4 'Does not stand up very well' When you have 130K miles and others have 112K miles, etc. I only have 89K miles on mine and am very happy so far. Others on this forum rave about the Zetec. I would rather have an SVT, but hey, this is what I could afford at the time.
You could look at this as an 'opportunity' to put in a 3.0 or a 2.5L v6...
