Just a note of warning, taking part in open lapping events generally means that you're waiving your insurance - if you total your car you won't see a cent from your insurance company. Also make sure you have a good understanding of the rules for the lapping event - marshals? restricted passing? how many cars on the track at one time? If you want to track your car and not take that kind of a financial (or personal safety in the case of no marshals) risk then you're best off sticking to "schools" like those run by the BMW club and the SAAB club. I'm not even sure if the SVTOA events are officially considered schools. Best to check before you take to the track!
