All I can say is - RIP-OFF! $400 to change the bearings that only cost $30 each then $20 each to press in? With labor that should not be more than $120 parts and labor each.

Hey guy,

I just had a bearing replaced on the left front and was only $121.00 at PepBoys. You probally paid a little more because you took it to FORD... I agree that Contours do need to occationally go in to the dealers to have repairs done, but as far as bearings, and general maintenance Iv'e had really good luck with PepBoys.. quality servicve at a reasonable cost..

The purpose of my post was to let others know what my symptoms were ( which were different than those in the archives ), and to give an idea of the costs. In fact, the dealer is splitting the repair cost with me since I had brought it in before the warranty was expired and they missed it. So I will be paying $200. I thought that posting the results of my visit would have been helpful, and didn't expect the critics to come out.

By the way, in order to get a deal at Pep Boys, you have to have one near you.
