I'm gonna clean the MAF sensor long with the throttle body, replace the spark plugs and other misc. tune up items. What do you recommended to clean the MAF sensor?

You might do a search on "MAF Sensor". I seem to recall someone was using carb cleaner, although I want to do the same thing and would probably use throttle body cleaner. Use it sparingly from what I heard so as not to damage the two thin wires which take air readings. Also around the throttle body make sure to unclog the "holes" in it, again from what i remember that's a common gripe. They get clogged up with greasy soot. Good luck!!!

Having had the Mass air (I mean the sensor OUT of the unit) apart a zillion times (smoothing out and enlarging the bore on a spare one)I can say TB cleaner or brake cleaner (non clorinated) will clean the Mass air. Be careful spraying it straight into the small opening for the sensor. The sensor is suspended on two tnin but strong wires and is a coated wire. It can take a bit of pressure and not collapse, but be careful.

thank you all for your help, i'm contemplating what else i can do to tune it up. I haven't looked personally, but off hand, does anyone know where the fuel filter is located and how easily it is to change on the contour?

Cleaning the MAF is highly NOT recommended. Don't do it unless there is a problem and you may need to replace it anyway. I have seen them damaged from attempts to clean them when there was nothing wrong. Don't do it as a maintenance proceedure.

I would also suggest finding out WHY it got dirty!.Bad PCV system can cause excessive 'oil mist' blowing back in the accordian tube or aftermarket tube, fix the 'root cause' aswell as 'bandaiding' the MAF !

You really don't need to clean the sensor. There shouldn't be any contaminants touching it. Don't screw up -- they are expensive to replace!

Well, i'm not really cleaning the MAF just as maintenance, i posted another topic about a 99SE making diesel truck (not very loud, but noticable) so i'm trying to troubleshoot that issue. if cleaning the MAF doesn't help, i'll move on.
