I was in second gear and at wot when I reached 4000 rpm's the car sputtered. I has a little more than an 1/8th of a tank. I was wondering if that was the problem? Anyone else have this problem? Should this happen? I just filled up the gas and I have yet to check if it still does it.

It was the fuel pump starving for fuel.
Very common occurance (unfortunately) for the new returnless style fuel pump because of the design and tiny size of the pickup and filters.

No it's not suppose to happen. It just does because of the terrible design ford used.

Yes the easiest fix is to not drive delow a 1/4 tank. As a rule of thumb I never do on any vehicle so it's never been a problem for me.

Doing a real fix would entail pulling the fuel pump unit & modifying it yourself. If you go this far you may as well just replace the pump with a better unit.
