I have the b&m and love it, i'm guessing with shifters the cheaper the better as it is pretty hard to screw up in the billet process. I would definitely recommend my shifter, it was a great improvement over stock

Before you guysslapped on a short shifter you should have converted your shifter tower to a Ford focus shifter tower...I was talking to Terry and he says that the stock tower has a tendancy to brake the little balls thats conect your shifter to the cables...consider this and a new MTX 75 euro spec tranny when you guys have the money...talk to Terry about it....He is great wil tranny perfomance.

You do have a how-to on this? About switching the shifter towers. Thanks

Just read a thread yesterday about a guy on Focaljet breaking the ball on his new OBX shifter. Hmm, Focus tower, broken ball, can it be possible? Still haven't seen a Focus Central shifter break that little ball.

I was at Terry Haine's place 2 weeks ago, and got to see the focus vs contour shifter towers and linkages up close. The focus unit is definatly built better, probably due to warranty repairs and the little ball part falling into the tranny. And the linkages with the end pieces are way better as well. I'm not sure if this is a do-it-in-the-car mod, or a do-it-when-you-pull-the-engine mod. I'm gonna call Terry about some 3.o stuff, and I'll ask him.

mcgainer - i'd be interested in hearing if this is a "in car" mod or "while the car's appart" kinda mod. What is the "shifer tower" anyhow? How would one get a hold of a focus shifter tower?

Well 1st..take a focus to the bar...get her really drunk, then she'll show you her shift tower...
The shift tower sits on the side of the tranny, and is the piece that moves the forks inside the tranny (TH..help me out here). The CSVT one is metal, mainly stamped, and the cables attach with clips onto narrow little retainers. The FSVT has a more robust build, with thicker retainers and snap-on spherical ends. Also...the little ball on the bottom side has been eliminated. TH installs these towers with every HMS box. You could get one from any Ford Parts Professional (yeah...I'm trying not to laugh too).

I don't doubt the shift tower could contribute to breaking the ball on the shifter, but I think a much higher responsibility falls on poor build quality/design of the ball on some of these shifters.
