Are EBC brake pads quality? How good are the stock pads and what would you guys recommend for upgraded pads? Thanks.

don't get KVR's!

or greenstuff pads (haven't heard much good about them)

There isn't a really big range of pads to buy I guess you could go with Mintex... I wish Axxis or Hawk made some pads for our application

Hum. What seems to be the popular pad for the SVT Contour?

Thanks

The Greenstuff are a very good upgrade over the standard ST24 pads, no doubt they are better than the standard SVT pads too (ST24's have the same brakes fitted).

A lot of people use them and are very happy. I can't understand the previous comments above- quite a few people on this forum recommended them to me before I bought them.

EBC=bad. Squeal, uneven pad wear, I'm just waiting to replace them on my rear calipers, because the Mintex set I had before had the same problems. I'm going to see if Baer makes carbon metallic pads for the rear, because that's what they had up front with my big brake kit, and I've never had any issues. Doesn't Stazi sell titanium brake pads or something? Heard those were nice with stock calipers. . .

I've got a set of Stazi's pads front and rear. Have maybe 600 miles on them so far. They dust a lot less than Mintex AF and NAPA premium super-what-evers. Probably less dust than stock even. Stopping power is equal to stock, maybe a touch more, but I wouldn't say auto-X quality, though I haven't done that myself. Progressive feeling, not bite-ee. I'm installing braided lines this weekend, so I'll be able to tell more after that.

For $87 F/R to my door...I'd say a good buy.

I've got EBC GS on front and rear. The fronts were just put through over 2 hours of on/off track time at IRP (2.5 mile, 15 turn road course) and they were great. The backs have been through about 6 hours of track time and a few thousand road miles. Just a tiny bit of fade, but I was pushing them. I had 2-3 people who were following me who couldn't believe I was braking so late. Can't say too much about dust on the front, but the rears have been a bit less than stock. $70-80 an axle, but I could tell a definite difference in feel and power from stock.

As far as the wear - I'll tell you when I replace them, but there is no noise from them under any use.

Don't know if the EBC greenstuffs I had were bad, but they lasted only for 2 hours of track time on the fronts... bad fading and down to the backing plates when done. Yes, they had been bedded properly as well.
The KVR's I used lasted over three hours on track with no discernable fading.
Going to try Mintex 1144's next track weekend to see how they perform.
The rear Greenstuffs are ok, but then again, they don't do much of the work either...

Just my input!

I don't really do track racing. I'm just looking for something to give me good pedal feel and increased bite (not that the stock pads feel bad), that I can really push hard in everyday driving. Thanks.
