I realize other aftermarket rear sway bars have clunked, but it seems like they clunked during lateral motion (corners). I have a clumking noise from vertical movement, (dips and bumps) particularly at lower speeds.

I have the BAT/SP Motorsports 22mm bar, which I haven't heard any other clunking issues for.

Are there other things I should look for to see if they're the problem? How can I check or tighten the rear sway bar?

Thanks in advance,
James.

I am having the same problem on my '96 Mystique. I have a funny feeling it's the sway bar links at then, that connect to the control arm, be sure to checke the bushing in the arm also. Also pay close attention to the sway bar stops that are on each side of the bar, nect to the sway bar bushing.

There was a time when we were replacing sway bars all the time.

Yes, thanks for the info, but I wouldn't know what these parts are if they bit me.

Can anyone translate the mechanical terms into English or make it so that when I'm at the car I can tell by sight what I'm looking for?

Sorry, but I'm a mechanical idiot!

call sca they have a fix.....sorta....

if you have one of the odd sized gas tanks, like me, you wont be able to put the brackets on the driver side.

call them and put pressure on them.....ask them questions.

ford can temporarily fix this problem also.

The U-Brackets are being held in place with one bolt - bolted to the frame.

What I did to eliminate the problem was weld both brackets to the frame to eliminate the clunk and brackets moving out of place when cornering hard.

But, I have also replaced my endlink rubber bushings with polyurethane, so the stiffness contributed to some of the problems.

If you dont have welding tanks, you can go to a Muffler Man or Midas and tell them to specifically weld the brackets to the frame.

I hope this helps.
