i've got a 95 but they have a crap setup what year should i order from,or do they give yoiu the newest design when u order it

Changing the V6 timing chains & tensioners is a bear of a job with engine 'in situ'.Why are you replacing them,rattles?.The chain tensioners,there are two,have not changed design.The only change was to the guide rail/plates that retain the chain runs.These had a short life on early engines and the material was changed shortly after Job 1 of the 2.5 Duratech.

yes it's making lots of start up and i'm adding more hp very shortly(front cat mod).if i'm in there replacing the tensioners i might as well change the chain.u r the guru should i leave it.my verdict on the pulley was leave it till it blows then buy a 3l(i hope the wife doesn't see this),but the car is running so strong i don't want it 2 die yet.plus the 3l plus install and svt heads r more then i thought.when is a terry haines crazy hp.box motor gonna b available

Anyone know around wich month/year of production the material was change, since
it's an over 8hrs job if i'm correct i just
want to be minded when it will append confused

My 2 cents !!!!
lot of trouble to change chains & tensioners,as long as the rattle stops when the oil pressure 'kicks' I'd be incline to leave it until 1) you go to a 3.0 2)you rebuild/replace the existing motor.
One last point,apart from the chains ,if you change them,all the gears should be checked and changed also,they wear together...$$$$$.
,and check you are using a premium oil filter,one with a good valve to prevent total drain back.Regards TAH (PS new motor before christmas with around #*! HP)

thanx terry,our canadian motorcraft filters r made by wix not the purolators u get in the usa.i can get k&n filter but they cost around 18$ a pop.i change my syn. oil every 5-6000 km with a filter change in between,i know its overkill but i like fresh juice in there..if i just went to 6000 km with the filter using a k&n wouldn't b that much more $.

You'd have to use a lot of CDN$18 filters to make up for the cost of your time to change these. If the average filter is CDN$9 and you change oil every 5000km that's 32 oil changes.

So you will spend under CDN$320 on premium oil filters if I've guessed right. Is your free time worth CDN$40/hour?

Or do you mean a new filter every 10000km which is then 16 filters, or costing you roughly CDN$160 over that 160000km period.

Just some thoughts.

i change my filter only every 3000 km,oil and filter again at 5-6000,if i skip the filter change inbetween and switch 2 the k&&n it would b about the same price

Not anymore, before the bottom plate had "M 22" marking stamped on it, now its more like "ZZ" or "22" and the bottom plate have less hole, one hole is larger then the others and no i'm not speaking of the big one in the center, and the inner metal sleeve inside have more smaller holes and finally the paint on the can is not "glossy white" but more like "eggshell white" . Now for the trivia, who is making canadian's oil filter now ?????

in ont. we are still getting the wix,u can tell a wix by the strange lil round cylinder with the oval hole in it on the inside of the filter.but i'd gladly pay u 4 a habitat du canadiens version ron e-mail me @ rolandstiller@hotmail.com
