I tried to replace the whole assembly first, but I couldn't get all the hoses off. Those spring loaded clamps are a major PITA, and the intake is really in the way. Not to mention all the hoses were stuck on the nipple, even with the clamp removed. So I said screw it and just replaced the impeller side with the housing in place. It was MUCH easier, IMO. I did almost all of the work from underneath the car, where it was easier to get at.
