I have a 99 SE and three days ago I installed my new BAT air intake and I have had no problems with it at all until last night when my car stalled twice. I watched the tach dip down to 500 rpms on idle and stay there. At sometimes it would dip even farther down, but for the most part it stayed there. I know that the car is supposed to idle at 750. I just purchased my new tour in July and I've only put on this intake. I am assuming that it is something to do with that, but I am still in the dark.

what you need to do is when you originaly put the intake on, you should have unpluged the neg. battery wire for at least a couple minutes. when your done installing, plug battery back in and start the car. turn everything off like radio, ac, everything. start the car and let it run for 5-10 min. and dont touch it. dont step on the gas or anything. the computer in the car is constintly learning and adjusting. when you unplug the battery (neg. wire) you are reseting the computer. the car will learn and adjust accordingly if you reset the computer...........
we are on a mission, with overtones of extreme personal danger

actually just pull the #4 and #11 fuses from the underhood fusebox..that way you don't have to reset your clock,radio,etc....this will reset the computer without removing the neg. battery cable...and after you put the fuses back in you need to DRIVE the car through a normal drive cycle of stop and go driving for the computer to relearn the idle...not just let the car run sitting still...

Might want to check for air leaks around the intake & associated hoses.

I tried Chrisilvers method and it started to get better! It would stay at 750rpms longer than before, but would still drop down to 500 rpms. I am going to try disconecting the battery again and let it sit without touching anything for while. Hopefully this works. I have checked my connections and they all seem fine. Hopefully I can fix this.

Your pulling hot engine air into your intake. I think that's causing you stalling issue. Get or make a heat shield.

If the problem doesn't go away don't just assume it is the new air intake system, it is very possible that the idle air control valve might be going bad.

I am making a heat shield for it tomorrow, and if that doesn't do it I'll clean my IAC! Thanks for the advice everyone!

i don't have a heatshield, and my car doesn't stall out...i hardly think his open element filter alone is causing his problem....
