I had a similiar fuel starvation problem in my 89 Ford Probe GT and it turned out to be a gunked up fuel filter intake sock - I cleaned it and cleaned out the bottom of my fuel tank and that fixed my Probe. I do not know if my two problems are related. (When I say my "two problems", I am referring to my SVT's symptoms, not my old Probe or my personal issues.) Any advice? Thanks - Dave

Your fuel pump is going out. If your filter doesn't help, then that is definately what it is. Mine just went out. I have a 00'SE sport w/ 49k miles on it and it cost me $266 for a stock unit. You have to buy the sender unit and pump if you get it from Ford, unless you feel like custom fitting an aftermarket (Carter) pump. Oh yeh, and be ready to return from a 9 hour trip to hell a new man!!! Good Luck! Ford is great and sucks all at the same time!
