I'm not a mechanic and I've never worked on the air bag system, so please take the following with a LARGE grain of salt:
Having said that, it seems that you can fix the connector yourself. Here are the instructions from the Ford TSP:
WARNING: THE BACK-UP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE ANY AIR BAG COMPONENT SERVICE IS PERFORMED. TO DEPLETE BACK-UP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE AND WAIT ONE MINUTE TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
Note: When the battery (10653) has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 18 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy. The air bag diagnostic monitor includes an internal back-up power supply. This feature provides sufficient back-up power to deploy the air bags in the event that the battery or battery cables are damaged in a collision before the crash sensors close. The back-up power supply will deplete its stored energy approximately one minute after the positive battery cable is disconnected.

Removal
1. WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
2. Disconnect positive battery cable and wait one minute for back-up power supply energy to be depleted.
3. Remove two screws and grille from grille opening panel reinforcement. 4. Remove two screws and RH and LH parking lamps (13200). 5. Remove 12 screws from radiator grille opening panel reinforcement (8A284). 6. Disconnect RH or LH primary crash sensor electrical connector. 7. Remove three retaining screws and RH or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket (14B004) from radiator support (16138). Installation
1. Position RH or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket to radiator support and secure with three retaining screws. Tighten screws to 9-13 N-m (80-115 lb-in). 2. Connect RH or LH primary crash sensor electrical connector. 3. Position radiator grille opening panel reinforcement and secure with 12 screws. Tighten screws to 5-7 N-m (44-62 lb-in). 4. Install RH and LH parking lamps and secure with two screws. Tighten screws to 5-7 N-m (44-62 lb-in). 5. Installradiator grille (8200) and secure with two screws. Tighten screws to 5-7 N-m (44-62 lb-in). 6. Reconnect battery positive cable. 7. Reconnect battery ground cable. 8. Prove out air bag system.
