Buy it online?

The only thing I don't like about the nak, is that you can't go through the end of the disc with the search feature. Say you are on track 15 on a 16 track disc and you want to go back to 1, you have to either wait for it to play out or hit the track back for it to go to 1, kind of a pain, my only complaint.

I wouldn't trade it for much, well I am thinking about getting the seperate pre-amp combo but, that is about it. I don't really worry about theft much, because it's not that flashy.

The dimmer does not work with it. FWIW, I have never seen an aftermarket HU that does..

Crutchfield has a few HUs that dim with the dimmer, but theyre ugly. I dont want ANYTHING flashy, I want it to look totally stock. Thats the goal for my car, make it look 100% German, with it still looking stock.

German cars would all have Alpine or Nakamichi HUs in them in a perfect world instead of the crap that's in there (most is Japan or China built anyways) The Nak would be your best bet. Actually in a perfect world Macintosh would make an HU that didn't resemble the radio in an 82 GMC Vandura and sell it for a competitive price , but we can't all get what we want now can we?

does Mackintosh make aftermarket HUs? I didn't think they did. A neighbor across the golf course has a 2002 Subaru Outback H6 3.0 VDC Wagon with the factory Macintosh system, now thats not a bad little Scooby!

McIntosh does make afermarket HU's however:
1. They look very "vintage"
2. They are expensive
3. They need an external amp, IIRC
4. They are expensive

McIntosh Labs

If you are looking at buying a used Bose system, this HU is way out of your league. 600-750.00 is the going rate on ebay. Then you will need to buy an amplifier.
