I'm planning to have the resonator removed from the exhaust system, as well as adding the SHO Shop intake. I'm aiming to really bring out the sound of my non-SVT Duratec as well as add a few horsepower. The mod page for the resonator removal hints at a performance increase if this is done, but doesn't give any numbers.

Does anyone know what kind of gain, if any, I might see from removing the resonator? Also, if anyone knows of a reputable shop in my area that can do the work, by all means, please recommend them.

On a non-SVT, you won't really get much of anything. The whole exhaust system is 2" pipe.

The same resonator/muffler is used on the SVT, but the piping is 2.25", so it necks down to 2" for the resonator. This is where removing it gains you some power.

On the stock pipes, you may notice the RPM's climb a little faster in the mid-upper range, but as Lance mentioned it's pretty minimal. On the other hand the sound is nice, the engine seems to run a tad cooler, and the mileage increases a bit. (IF you keep your foot off the floor!!) Larger pipes help performance, but be prepared for more noise and resonance in the cabin.

I was about to remove the resonator from my SVT. So the pipe size there is 2.25 right?! Also, when I remove it, I want to put a magnaflow muffler in it's place, will this be louder than having the resonator in there? Reason I ask is because my exhaust is VERY loud right now. No cat, no mufflers just resonator. I assume that the Magnaflow muffler will tone the sound down give it a little deeper sound. Is this righT?!

Dude, the magnaflow is quite a bit louder than the stock resonator. If you run just that...it'll be real loud...borderline F-150 with a 6 of Bud loud!

Hmm, so you say it'll actually get louder from where I'm at now. I guess it makes sense... I just figured even though it's straight through, that it would tone the sound correctly instead of like $*** like the stock resonator does. So, do you think that I should put a magnaflow resonator (straight through) along with a muffler... that'd probably fix me up nice wouldn't it?

Yeah, that is a good amount louder than mine is. So, I guess if I'm replacing the resonator, I should put on quite a long one... plus a fair sized straight through muffler.

Anyone have that similar setup? Sho Shop Y-pipe (no cat), an aftermarket resonator and one aftermarket muffler for their svt?

Yeah, that's what I was going to do, but some said that when I go from the stock resonator, to a magnaflow muffler in it's place, that the exhaust will get much louder. (I have no mufflers now already). I thought that *cardoc* used to have a setup like that??
