does any one have any last minute advise ---besides whats in the haynes manual---on changing a fuel filter ???????
any input would be appreciated.....

How many miles should you change the fuel filter?

Make sure you have new clips so you can rip the old ones off as you fight to remove them.

Have a few rags handy because fuel will spill. If you are doing it on asphalt and you drop your screwdriver in the fuel it won't catch fire and burn you up. I thought it would so I must have tried it two dozen times as I changed my filter. I'm still alive. YMMV.

I did jack the car up a little bit so I could get under there easier, may not be necessary.

Shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes. Took me 30 and I have 10 thumbs.

Take out the fuel pump fuse while the engine is running and let her die, that way there is no fuel pressure in the system. Thats it really, have some rags or kitchen towel handy as some will still leak whatever you do. I always undo the fuel tank side first and contect it to the new filter, gives you about 10 seconds to disconnect and do up the other end as the fuel soaks through the new filter

Have fun and remember to put out the ciggy before you start.

perry thank you for the advise...it took me like 30 to do it kept running out of beer . i had some ramps and drove the rear end up on them and it was a peice of cake...
SVTIMULATE the fuel filter is supposed to be changed every 30,000 or every 24 months, i hava 75,450 miles on my car and this is the first time i changed it and i regret it i should have done it a long time ago. the filter is only 6.99 plus tax here in
North Carolina. plus i added some injector cleaner...it runs like a champ now, now im not affraid to stop at a light and be punked out by some honda or some thing like that ....thank you again...

i forgot to ask about the CEL...does it reset on its own or do i have to take it in to a shop and have it reset ???????

Cel should turn off after 6 driving cycles, if the computer doesn't see anymore troubles.

by 6 driving cycles you mean after the car turns on and off 6 times ????
im kinda about some of this things but im learning as i go

Just reset your computer to clear the CEL:

1. Unscrew the negative lead from the battery.
2. Drink 6 pack.
3. Hook the negative lead back up.
4. Let your car idle for 10 minutes (so the CPU can learn)
5. Reset your clock and radio stations
