I prefer to listen to my music in the most realistic way possible. I like tube equipment for the novelty, especially when you come acroww the rare one that sounds as good as a solidstate amp. If you like the warm tube amp sound, that can be accomplished with a solid state amp and an EQ. If you don't know what i am talking about, you have no business posting this nonsense.

Two ways are simple and straight fwd,,3 ways can be a pain i think. I have just a 2 way system w/o eq, and it sounds awesome, as I got complimented today. ( I had the PG EQ230 ) powered up to make sure its working properly, and the guys at the shop said that the system sounds incredible given that I did everything by ear. Just get good stuff and use common sense, and it should sound good,,,if you have an Alpine PXA-H600,,that would help as well

That was my plan, but there is apparently no way for me to get 8's into the Focus' front doors without butchering the entire door I think this would be the optimal setup in the tour

If there is a way to get 8" drivers to fit ni the front doors I will do it. Anybody that has been around here for awhile knows that I am all SQ when it comes to my car stereo. If I can get an 8 with a high efficiency rating to match the Bohlender Greabner ribbons I will be able to balance out my front end with less power. I also would like to reach as low in the frequncu range as I can, and it's easier to find a driver that can do it in an 8" size as opposed to a 6.5" size. Right now I have some 6.5" Alpine SPRs playing pretend midbass and it's not nearly what I'm looking for but it will have to do for now. In the contour 8" speakers will fit by simply cutting out the speaker bracket and welding in a new ring, but in the Focus the window motor is too far forward and the door edge is closer. I also have a bit less clearance before I hit the window as well so I'm scrood. I'm starting to consider maybe butchering and refinishing the door panel itself... where's me jigsaw?

Yeah you'd butcher them but that's about it.. I would be left with a door frame with cheesecloth as the panel and a 8" speaker dangling from some rope

could you not put part of the speaker into the door and build fiberglass kick panel type deal going out from door (use some foam to make a mold or something) so it sticks out some but is supported by door (probably have to add supports). you could paint the fiberglass and put a grill on the 8". it would look cool.
