What do the hardcore enthusiast feel about using 8's in the door, as opposed to 6 1/2 midbass drivers??
Right now I have 5 1/4 components in the kicks and nothing else in the rear for fill. But, right now I cant decide whether I should go and run 8 or just a 6 in the door. I plan on competing in the future. So any suggestions would be helpful in deciding what I should do!!!

What size sub you planning on running??, I run 6 1/2 mid bass drivers and i have a jl 15 in my car, they work plenty w/ no rear fill, also what kind of competition, spl, sql? depending u may want more db in ur stereo

Oh I already have subs in the truck they are 10' mb quartz.

And I want to compete in sq competitions.

I would recommend a 6 1/2 just cuz the subs you have should play down well, and the 6 1/2 driver should fill the frequency gap nicly. Nice choice on the mb quarts, they are really nice. Also go with all mb quart if u want sql cuz matched stuff usually sounds the best, unlike me I unmatch due to money and I like the way mine sounds as well

I run 2 memphis audio amps, my kicks are infinity and the subs are mb quartz.
And I'm thinking of running with peerless mid bass drivers!

Well my unmatched system sounds better than some people's matched ones for example my friends MTX system is horrible, but this is just mho though, Go with what you want man, like me i have alpine 5 1/4s, diamond audio hex series 6 1/2s, jl 15 w0 8ohm sub all powered by 2 eclipse 33230s, also nakamichi 45Z headunit, oh and can't forget bout my phoenix gold mx3i active crossover, but the whole point is go with what u like and what you can afford, and for sql, mine rocks, not that loud maybe 110 db but sound quality is excellent

you got yourself alot of quality components. So you honestly think it would be a nice combination to run some 6 1/2 midbass drivers instead of the 8's. What hz would you say the majority of 6's would be able to play down and up too. Would i be able to have a nice spectrum of sounds mixing all in unity??

Well i would recommend getting a 3 way upgrade set like i did cuz then u get 3 way cross overs and u can hook up ur componets on that as well as for hz on teh 6 1/2s i would say they prolly will play up to around 5K hz thats for a quality driver though, like diamond or mb quart, and honestly I think 6 1/2s would be better because the 10" subs are not going to play as low as my 15 does and i have plenty of mid bass w/ my 15 and 6 1/2s

Anything where a transistor does not touch the signal. If you dont know what i am talking about you have no business listening to music.
