Ok now that I got your attention here is a video of a special done on street racing and tells how a cop was killed. New laws are in affect as the special says. I look for the US to follow suit in the near future. the special

I can agree with a majority of that clip. But i can't agree that there are pulling people for what looks like modified exhaust or the sound of exhaust and tinted windows. I just wonder if they are going to be doing that with just compact cars, or are they going to be doing that with all cars, sports cars, imports, trucks luxury cars. Can't just limit it to compacts/imports. Couldn't they get sued for stereotyping or for the lack of a better word discriminating?(sp?)

Im from Vancouver, (where the cop got killed).. It's really a growing problem here and it has got to stop..

I don't know about them pulling over cars with lowered suspension and modified exhausts and towing... but my friend had his WRX (soop3d up) written a ticket for inspection. He wasn't happy..

When they say that there are two types of street racers its true. But i can't justify that the deserted street is "very" safe. I mean anything can happen whether there is a drunk homeless guy cross that street while you are racing or just some dog comes running out and you gun your brakes, you're going to hit something sooner or later, its just that at times you get lucky and walk away or just plain miss it. Dallas street racing is getting bad as well, with our no tolerance law. i am not going to deny, i have had my fair share of street racing as well, its not going to stop whether they impound our cars or tickets, street racing has been around since the 50's and it hasn't slowed down.

I think the problem would be significantly reduced if there were tracks that they could race at. I live right outside Detroit; since they closed Detroit Dragway about 10 years ago the closest track is over an hour away (Milan). Although I wouldnâ??t consider street racing a problem in my city, I know some neighboring cities have had problems with it. Street racing will always be there, the only solution I see to reduce it would be giving them a place they can legally race.

If the media and the police gave as much coverage and time to DUI/DWI/DWAI as they do for street racing, imagine the impact that would have
