Thanks for the site, oh my GOD, $27GrAND on v-dub for a twin turbo setup!!! Granted you are squeezing two turbos that are "reliable and consistent" under the hood, but that's the price of the car, a 50G v-dub, that cracks me up. . .

27G for the twin turbo + 25k for the car = $52K!!
I think I read it somewhere in a Steven Hawkings book that this can create a Black Hole in your wallet. If you put anything into this Black Hole Wallet... it will crush and vanish without any indication it was ever there.
Who the hell said you gotta pay to play? I'm gonna kick your ass..lol

and remember with the VR6 it's only a 12 valve motor (well, they do have the newer 24v ones, but not much is available for them) that does not breath very well out of the box due to all 6 cyl's sharing one head. Extensive port work helps the VR6 in the upper RPM range, but I'm sure that 3.0 SVT E0 already knows all about this.
My buddy has an EIP Stage II Turbo VR6 A2. Click HERE to see it.

now to get this back on topic
back to my pondering about redline...if you increase the stroke of a motor then the piston speed is increased as well. if the piston has to travel further in the same amount of time (lets say 5000 rpm) then the piston speed increases as well. if the motor is bored then the pistons have to be larger as well. that ='s a heavier piston. all that isnt necessarily good for the durability of a motor right? i want to know if the SHOshop will decrease the redline so it doesnt effect durability. or will they use lightweight pistons/rods to keep everything at least at the stock redline? i like the fact that we have a high-revving motor and would like to keep it that way.
thoughts?

i assumed they were going to go with lighter weight components, thought that's what you did when you bored an engine and increased displacement, but since they've been entirely fuzzy about the facts, we're only left to conjecture. . .I agree with you though, lightweight pistons+rods will keep the redline where it is, and I don't think they'd want to ruin they fun our engines afford us. . .

I just ordered my y-pipe and I asked about the new motor, they said it was an entirely new motor, and the release date is around the first of the year. That is all he was able to tell me.

The gearkit that Quaife released is a Dog engagement kit. It's a full on race kit. You don't want to use a dog kit on a street car. That's why it's 5K. A synchro kit would be alot less. closer to 3K. That price is more in line with the other gear kits Quaife carries. There is no such thing as a N/A VR6 making 300HP. It doesn't exist. My car makes just about 200@ the wheels and it's close to tapped out for the 2.8L. I have a friend with a 3.1L Corrado VR6 and it makes in the high 220's at the wheels. My GTI is still faster then my SVT though. Even with my SVT making almost 20 hp more. It's nice to have that ineffecent 2V head in a smaller car. It's just a matter of 500LBS less, and a hell of alot more aftermarket support. The one thing the VR6 does have that the Duratech does not is torque. But theres also more displacement. The VR6 head is no good over 7K rpm. This isn't a VW fourm though. Even though my Vw has not crapped 3 motors, 2 trannys, and has been to the repair shop 500 less times then my Ford, I still love them equally. I have a sick dedication to my SVT.
98 SVT E0, Black 3.0L, y- pipe, open air filter, ported lower intake manifold, Quaife diff. 220hp at the wheels through the stock exhaust and manifolds.
Blown motor, help on the way......
97 GTI VR6, Green lots of mods, 205 hp at the wheels

I am also a SVTaholic, and I too am not ashamed. It's a good thing I have a loving and tolerant girlfriend, too. Most women would be bored as heck w/ the way I talk and think about my car. SVTaholics, UNITE! I need a hug. BTW (more on subject) does anyone have the extrude honded UIM and larger butterflies from SHOShop? Those two combined look like a great idea.
