You sure BFG discontinued them? That sucks! Try this and see what tire sizes match up well. Hope that helps.

No, no definitely don't use 225-40-16. Are you sure BFG told you that? I don't even see that size as being available at TireRack.
If they don't have 215-50-16 I'd run 225-50-16; that's what I have, completely stock wheels and suspension. If you wanna save a few dollars I see that the 205-55-16 are $14 cheaper per tire. Both of those options leave you with the same overall height of tire, with the 225 affording a bit more width. With both, when your speedo says 60mph, you'll actually be going 61mph.
Choice depends on whether you like a little buldge in your sidewall or not... how much $56 is worth to ya... and how aggressive your wife drives.

the wife drives ok I guess, but i like to keep a car as original as possible. i can't stand people that buy a cool car, say with good tires and because they pay over time they get the good equipment, then when its time to replace items they buy k-mart tires, its like a vett with g60x15s and not oem tires ya know !!!!!! i just want a good tire that will handle ,cool treads and will fit the original set up so when i drive it i can trust it.... Neither of the sizes I listed will look goofy on your car. Maybe a die hard Contour enthusiast could tell you didn't have the OEM tire, but I bet you that if you didn't mention it to your wife she couldn't even tell.
If it was me, I'd go 225/50-16. Looks great, rides great, handles great.
Good luck.

I agree. I also would put 225/50R16 of the tire you want on there. Lots more options of performance tires.

I run the 225-50-16 with no problems at all on the stock setup. The difference is minimal. If you get the KDW - go for the new tread pattern - that is so cool!
