the odds of even a screwed up mtx jumping INTO gear while the car is running are even smaller than the odds of me going down to my local Ferrari dealer tomorrow and plunking down cash for an F360.
Nail the punks.

I would be inclined to agree with JaTo.

I took my car in for it's first tune-up (oil change, tire rotation). When I picked it up it had 12 miles more than when I dropped it off. That is a lot of tire rotation!! They took you car for a ride! It's the only way. Nail 'em!

Did it do a lot of damage? What about the airbags? When are those released?

WOW! I only heard of the MTX-75 has problem shifting into gear, jumping into gear?!?!?! They must think you're some idiot or something! It's impossible for MTX to jump into gear itself and do any damage! If it even jumped into gear, it'll just stall itself anyway!

GO IN AND RAISE HELL!

1 week of ownership????? Get a new car from them. Have a look around!!! Tell them that you refuse to drive a car that has been damaged. If you wanted a older/used beat up car, you would have purchased one! mad

It's all been said.

Go in cool. Look over the damage to the car. Do not let them work on the car without you seeing it.

Tell them no transmission will even let you push the lever into a gear. It grinds all to hell.

Ask to see the toolbox as it probably was dented pretty good too.

If the story holds up and damage it not significant (no frame or engine damage), let them fix it and be on your way. Never return to the dealer.

If the story falls apart, I don't know what to tell you. SVT's are getting hard to come by so replacing it might not be an option for you. But if there is something else on the lot that peaks your interest, inquire.

Actually I agree with JaTo 100%

If you really want to benefit from this do it the right way. Get pictures of the tool box and your car, also I would tell them that you are thinking about getting a lawyer.
That will shake them up a bit and let them know your not F**king around.

Nicely put JaTo.

Whatever you do stay calm.

And as other have said, ask to see the scene. If the story is a bit unbelieveable, tell them you think that.

But, then tell them it doesn't matter what the story is, because you expect that they make it better than before.

If they do that, then there really is no reason to get mad.

I would also reserve the right to have the work inspected by a third party expert since you have trouble believing their story. If the third party expert believes the work was done right then you will be happy.

This covers both you and the dealership.

Cheers,

TB

Some guy has to take a toolbox outside and beat it for an hour with a sledge hammer to make this even look remotely truthful. Look for car paint on the box. I bet there won't be any.
