Just bought my SVT 1 week ago and the ce light came on. Took it to the dealer and while performing a T.B./intake manifold clean they said it went into gear and ran into a tool box and the rack in front of it. The amount of damage is quite high and looks to me to have hit another car!!!? Tomorrow I am going back up there to see the so called toolbox. What do you guys think? When the time comes to trade it in it will probably be about 2000 less then book because of the accident. They saaid they will make repairs but I dont know if I will be satisfied with that outcome

I'd be interested to hear how a MTX went into gear and hit a toolbox hard enough to do significant damage while in a service bay. Sounds fishy...

I took my SVT in for warranty paint work. When the body guys went to lift the car, they jacked up on the rear suspension. They ended up replacing the pass. rear suspension. Additionally, the paint has been redone 6, yes 6 times in the past year due to pealing clear coat.

Maxboost, if someone was cleaning your throttle body at the time the car "went into gear," it should have pinned the mechanic between the front bumper and the tool box!
It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.

Tell them that you and your lawyer (or at least someone from the BBB; you may want to contact both) would like to see the toolbox and rack in question, along with pictures and dealer documentation on the damage (they should at least have a write-up). Please also tell me that you took your mileage down before leaving it in their hands. That right there is going to tell volumes on what they were doing with the car...
I've been around MTX's all my life and have yet to have a single one magically start itself, turn over and "jump" into gear. I'll bet a blank check that these pricks took your car for a spin or were just plain negligent and smacked it into something.
Go in cool, but let them know that if they want to persist with the BS, you'd love to entertain their stories in the middle of litigation.
I'd also ask them to coherently explain how in the hell Ford expects a customer to drive out with a car that is magically jumping into gear at any given time...
I'd be asking for a new car.

If you remain calm while talking and just twitch and jerk your head every now and then they might think you're psycho give you a new car. Seriously...jumped into gear? I would not take the car back until it was in the condition that you gave it to them. Perfect. The only way to do that is a new car. Or at least a new slightly used SVT.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?
