Anyone could give me info on how to remove the factory fog-lights on a 1999 Mystique Sport? The bracket does not look to me like the one on the SVT (I've done some search in the forums before posting this). I want to at least be able to clean the inside of the housing, and to remove glass debris inside (last bulb shattered inside). Also, if it's not too involved, I might want to replace the factory units with something a bit sturdier/stronger .

The Mystique units are rectangular jobs; so far, I have tried to remove the whole assembly; I located a Phillips that screws into the bottom of the bumpre; I have located another one, outboard, above the light-housing itself; a bi*** to unscrew. Now there seems to be a third one, above the light-housing too, with little room for access (I can feel it with my hand, but there seems to be some other plumbing around too: I would not want to set off the bags...) .

Thanks in advance to all, if I don't reply individually.

I don't have a complete answer since I have a 95 Mystique and there is only one screw to hold the assembly in. The one screw is on top of the light and can be gotten to by a screw driver, just takes some pacience. What you can do is unbolt the bumper and it will slide forward about an inch or so, that should provide the extra space that you will need. may take awhile but the only other ption is to take the whole bumper off

Yeah I need help with this too, how do you unbolt the bumper on a 1995 Mystique? My drivers side foglamp melted (with the right size bulbs...) and I need a new foglamp, and I'm going to do some crack sealing on the passenger side, so howdo you get the bumper off? How do you remove the fogd? Thanks!

to get the bumper off there are two bolts on each side up above the fog lamp. You also need to remove the marker lights and remove the crome strip to get the bumper off. You are best to just take the bolts off the side you are working on and move the bumper forwars as much as is allowed. It is tight but if you get a mirror and try it can be done. once you do it on one side the other will go much fast. took me an hour to get one light back in and the other half that time when I sealed cracks and put them back in

Thanks, but that does not help me much. Seems there are two types of bumpers, i.e. 95-97 on one hand, and 98-00 on the other hand, each type with different mountings, impact bars, braces, etc.

Would anyone have experience on a '98 or '99 Mystique (r 2000? We didn't get those in Canada) who could help me out on this one? Also, should I choose to replace the factory units, is there a limitation (on wattage?) of new lamps if I want to hook 'em up using the factory relay (and keep the reminder light in instrument panel functional?

Thanks again!

Yup....I just removed mine to repair a crack in the drivers side. There are three Phillips screws holding mine in. One on the bottom (duh)...and then two up top.

The inboard one is a biatch to remove. I found that if I pulled down on the air dam then I could get the screwdriver in to get the other screw out. When re-installing the light I only put in the bottom screw and the outboard screw. It was plenty solid with just the two of them.

I have to pull out the darn thing again. If you'd like I can take pics of the assembly when its out.

I had to take out my fogs to. aparently they both had cracks in the caseing causing them to fill up with water. eventually the bulbs just exploded . To get them out I removed the one screw holding each in place. Unfortunatly on the 95 mystique there is sheet metal welded right in front of the metal. So I put on some gloves and ripped the sh** out of thoughs fogs until they came out. Well lets just say that they are garbage now. Ill be getting the PIAA 1500XT series clear driving fog lamps to replace them. I found them for under $200 total online and will be getting them soon. btw the stock housings cost $200 from a dealer . Here is a pic of them:
