I would bet it is the battery. My 95 lx v-6 did the same thing. New battery cured it. Make sure you get the correct size and cold cranking amps and what not. Got mine at Batteries Plus for 80 bucks. Also I think a smaller or incorrect battery would tax and fry the alt. Good luck. Let us know.
