32 mm, with a loooong handle. I think the torque on the early models was about 250 pounds. I believe it dropped somewhat on later models.

Yep, just had my front left bearing replaced. My SVT is as quiet as a Lincoln now! Not. Maybe as quiet as an F-150.

Funny, these symptoms point to faulty right bearing even though you say you have now replaced left (driver's) side and cured the problem.

I had the exact same symptoms as LegacySHO (noise to the left, noise straight ahead, no noise to the right), and mine was also my left wheel bearing.

Well, regardless of which way I had to steer to cause the noise, it was coming from the front left of the car, so it was definitely the front left bearing.

Isn't that a wonderful feeling, when you've just spent a hunk of money, and you hope that the problem is cured, but you're a little apprehensive, and you figure that you may have spent the money and still have the problem, and then you crank it up, and give it a try, and WOW! IT WORKS...

i had a problem with what sounded to be a rubbing coming from my side front wheel at similiar speeds , had all 4 tires replace, havent heard it since, what do you think my problem was the old tire was not that old.

do you feel any vibration when this sound occurs, do you feel it in the steering wheel, the seat of your pants, or at the gas/brake pedal


what is an svt?

My drivers side bearing went at around 55K. I didnt have the money to fix it right away, so I drove for about 1K before getting it fixed. Turned out that since I drove it in that condition there was no way to get the old bearing out of the hub, so I had to buy a new hub, to the tune of $180 dollars. Which sucked considering the bearing was only like $20.

I replaced my passenger side one at about 60/70K and just did both sides again at 190k.
