BUT only if you like high amounts of viscocity index improvers which are not good for your engine; especially high revving ones! Mobil 1 5W30 uses NO V.I. Improvers... Yet another reason why I chose Mobil 1 over AMSOil.

2000 SVT #674 13.47 @ 102 - All Motor! It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

fine particulates get past the air filter, into the UIM, LIM, air mixes in combustion chamber, blah, blah, blah, oil is circulated there to lubricate and cool, you get DIRTY oil. . . otherwise we wouldn't need to change oil that regularly, except for the heat break down, etc.

Demon, definately not so. To make claims is quite different from living it. I've been driving my SVT w/AMsoil 0w30 Full Synthetic Racing Oil as mentioned in the DMD topic for most of my now 53,000 miles. I've put on, I can pretty much guarantee this, more real racing miles than most any CEG'er or Contour owner around and If people claim such catastrophy in high rpms with our motors it's quite strange that an oil with such viscosity improvers has kept my motor running strong, even under the CLAIMED high stresses put on by an UnderDrive Pulley.

As I said in the DMD topic, AMSOIL, AMSOIL, AMSOIL!!!

Greg by the way, Mobil 1 had significantly worse wear than even Castrol Syntec on a 4-Ball Wear Test, Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic 0w30: .607....Castrol Syntec 5w30: .576....But none of the popular synthetics could compare to Amsoil Series 2000 0w30: .373 (the smaller the wear scar the better, so the lower the number the better). Tests were done at 40kg Pressure @150deg.C, 1800rpm for 1hr duration. A professor at the Universtiy of Hawaii did tests on many synthetics, there wear and breakdown properties and Amsoil along with Synergyn came up at the top.

Micah,
What's the difference then between AMsoil 5W-30 and the 0W-30 you run? I don't solo or anything like you, so 5W-30 synthetic from them should be fine, right??

Is it better to switch to racing oil like you?? It's not THAT much more than what I already pay for the AMOSIL.

for over 50years marvel mystery oil have been added to
billions of cars and still counting.I,ll stay with
marvel and kendal 5w30.Also try this!freeze your oil
and see which one flows better! Its the cold weather
start ups which cause engine damage.

My owners manual says to use 5W-30 and the Motorcraft site says 5W-20...

Ford revised it to improve their CAFE rating (emissions). You can use either. I use 5w-30 because it's available in synthetic formulation (Mobil 1)

I like the fact that Mobil1 has no ash content... amsoil has very small amount, but it's there nontheless...for money and availabilty, mobil1 is just fineeee.
