Nonono, that's not an option.. The motor supposedly can't handle much more boost as it is.. In an effort to save costs, they didn't beef up any of the internals of the engine. Granted, I'm sure you'll see some people try, but I'd wait and see how their car holds up before trying this yourself.

My g/f has a 2002 Protege ES.. Good car. The MazdaSpeed Protege is basically the same car with a 4psi turbo and some handling parts.. Problem is, they did nothing to beef up the motor, so it's not going to be easy to simply turn up the boost, or the motor will grenade. And it's pretty tuned from the factory, so there's not going to be alot of ways to make it faster.

However, for the price, you can't really complain. A loaded ES tips the scales at $18K. And for an extra $2K, you get the turbo, exhaust, and suspension upgrades!
