Common problem. Do a search for several threads on the topic. Also check the FAQ section about the gear problems.
Usually this problem occurs when the roof is in the vent position. Happened to me a couple of times, usually letting the car sit over night and cool down can fix the problem.
But if you here grinding sounds they your gears have gone.
Do you still have warranty? Then ask for a new moonroof motor!
