well, vortec sc looks like the way to go, but i'm a turbo type!? vortec is what like $3200-$3500, with like a 50-60 hp gain while the turbo kits that are very limited and super pricey, $5000 or more with about the same hp gain. it's like comparing apples to peas. so , does the sc run 6 or 9 psi?? now i heard there were problems with them, are they de-bugged? damn, this car is very limited to mods compared to other cars, price to pay to drive american. bet the intercooler is extra too hunh? now, does jackson sc have a kit? they should put something together....300hp,what fun that would be!!!!!!!!!!!!!! peoples with either of the two, your info helps!

Yes the turbo is more expensive. Yes the bugs in the Vortech have been worked out. However, there won't be any bugs in the turbo...thats why they're taking their time with it now. No Jackson doesn't make a kit for the Contour. The HP gains are similar but the TQ gains differ. The TQ gain from the turbo is substantially larger than from the Vortech. The Vortech runs at 9psi. I don't know if the intercooler with the turbo is more or not. 300hp is what the Vortech gives you, per say. To get that to the wheels though you'll need a fair amount more, but its doable. Cost wise, I'm not sure what the turbo is up to now but you could find out by looking through the thread. Micah (a CEG member) offers the Vortech kit for I believe around $3100 but has a group buy going on right now and is looking for more people. It's on the 2nd page in the Group Buy section if you're interested, I think.

On average: The turbo kit will pump out ~25 more HP and atleast ~50 more TQ at the wheels. Also it does this throughout the entire powerband, not just peak. Also the turbo kills the S/C in low & midrange torque (since boost is not rpm dependant!)
Both setups run ~9psi.
The turbo comes with an intercooler, SS headers, SS downpipe, and a few other goodies for that extra CHUNK of change.

Demon, how is the turbo not rpm dependent?? (asking) Originally posted by DemonSVT: On average: The turbo kit will pump out ~25 more HP and atleast ~50 more TQ at the wheels. Maybe he was talking about the s/c not being RPM dependant...? I was wondering the same thing as you.

In my opinion there both RPM dependent!! the Super Charger depends on the RPM's Of the Crank pulley, While the turbo depends on the exhaust gases, Which increas as the rrrr's climb!!!!! So yes they both produce more power as the rrr's climb But personaly as far as cost Vs. performance I whould have to go with Vortech!!!! Take the extra money and get header's, Y-pipe, aquamist and quife and the turbo whould be left in the dust!!!! But the turbo is still a nice option, Just a lil costly !!!

I don't doubt it would make a noticable differance, but I hardly think it would leave the turbo 'in the dust'. Just my $.02 though.

Agreed"kinda", But how are you gonna get all that power to the ground??? It all depends on what you want it for, as far as drag racing, the charger with the modes I listed whould probaly leave the turbo car in the dust, because the quife gives you the option of running a drag radial which in fact whould leave the tractionlesss turbo car in the dust!!!!! Not dissin the turbo just comparing $ for $!!
