Just for the record, my battery is SECURLY attached, and will not fly off unless a severe impact occurs, and that is no different than if it's in front!

Uhh, Also, I dont consider this an performance mod, but a convienience, longevity mod, as the battery suffers far less heat sitting in the trunk, than sitting on top of an overheated tranny, and next to a overworked head/waterpump.

Seriously, I expect to significantly increase the battery life, and when it does die, I can put whaterver the heck I want in to replace it, and dont have to worry about what "group" it is. Just buy the cheapest one with a good crank rating

Seriously, I would reccomend that orbital dry battery, but it's not really critical in my opinion.

Also, theres no difference between putting it in a cheap plastic box, and putting it in nothing. If your going to box it, put it in a real racing box, not that thin plasctic crap they sell at pep boys/autozone.

And on a nother thing, I think in general it is easier to get to the batter in the trunk to jump it, since a car can pull up behind you and you can just connect it, dont have to turn a car going the other way and face hood to hood.

just my $0.02

Hey 99MercMystLS25,

I am in the process of planning out my battery relocation and I cannot find the hole through the firewall that you described. The only "hole through the fuse box mounting bracket" that I could find was an unused bolt hole on the left side but there was no hole in the firewall there. How far up under the dash is this hole? I can see where the wires leave the back of the fuse box and disappear through the firewall but they come out behind the cruise control unit and therefore don't provide any help.

Thanks - Dave
