For removing the filter? nope, just the best way you have found, is probably as good as it will get. Find yourself some cheap Brake Part Cleaner, and spray the area around the filter AFTER YOU HAVE THE NEW FILTER INSTALLED (Dont want brake cleaner getting into the oil filter hole!) The oil will come right off the motor without even having to touch it with a rag! -Nick
