$500.00 for an accumulator seems excessive. Basically what they would do is as follows:
Evacuate or remove freon from system
remove and replace accumulator, add oil - 30 min job
Vacuum system for 30 minutes. Hold and check for any leaks.
If no leaks add freon about a couple of 1 lb cans or so.
