Back in the day, my best friends neighbor was supposedly professionally sponsored by Team Associated, he must have cuz we would get all of the tires, motors and goodies that he would run for one race and hand down. I had a ton of cars: 3 RC-10s, A Grasshopper, LunchBox, Blackfoot, A Bolink Eliminator 10th, 2 Traxxis Hawks, 2 RC_12Ls and a custom car..

My fastest run was recorded by a police officer friend at 53 mph in a 45 mph zone. It was my RC12L.

If you're looking for a good starter nitro car, the Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec is an excellent package. Electric, I'm not sure about, HPI is quite a popular one, but Losi and Associated make awesome cars, just never had one myself. Be careful, it's addicting, I've got close to $1,100 in my nitro car.

I have an SVT bodied RC car (made from Protoform's Mondeo you can still find). I like to show it off when I'm showing the SVT, here's a pic from a show in TN a couple years back. I got a lot of interest when I drove it all over the parking lot during the show. It'll take any real car in 0-60'! (Excuse the way the body is cocked, I made a velcro mounting system to eliminate the body mounting posts and since the body sits so low to the ground it's a little off sitting on the intake like that. It sits real nice when it's on the ground.)

It's an original HPI RS4 with a few upgrades. I used to be into racing, but got out of it in favor of spending money on real cars. My current lot consists of : various Marui Big Bears working on one fully resored (anyone remember that oldie?), Tamiya Thunder Dragon, original Losi JRX2, two RC-10's one worlds one original metal tub, Traxxas T-Maxx (my only gas powered one, very messy and a pain really, anyone want it? make an offer...), Tamiya Lunch Box and a couple others I can't think of at the moment.

RC is great and it satisfies that tinkering need that I get every so often, but now I have a Jeep CJ-8 to play with, so I'm moving away from these much.

I believe you are referring to Cliff Lett back around 1990. He had a Team Associated RC10L-SS. I wanna say it was like an 8-wind motor with 20 C-cells. I don't recall if it was a heavy duty Novak or Tekin ESC. Man...those were the days.

1996 Contour SE V6 MTX R.I.P. - Sept 2005 ---------- There's a lot of money in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there. How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have? You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!
