yep, four cylinders/four cylinders, fuel injection/fuel injection, DOHC/DOHC...they're damn near brothers I'd say!!

I wish we had an archive of the last CEG. We talked about this quite a bit in a topic not so long ago.

Honda's design/method/computer tech is much more advanced than any zetec design. Why do you think Honda is the reigning champ when it comes to N/A, hp to liter ratio when compared to performance vehicles of other manufacters.

Tell when you cam across a Ford 4-Cylinder from the factory that made 120bhp per Liter Naturally Aspirated, Never, and it will probably never happen. Honda Racing Technology is just a bit more advanced.

Don't get me wrong though I love my Fords and can even have a ZETEC Motor built up for any of you, that'll make those kinds of numbers CK my post .

well..the only motor that gets as many parts/mods for it, is the focus..so maybe thats the closest competition to a vtec?

There is a big difference between the ZETEC and VTEC. The main difference is valve timing and w/ i-VTEC they also control cam timing. Honda has the upper hand when it comes to high performance engines. When you can have a 1.6L engine produce 160hp and 111 ft.-lbs. of torque stright from the factory floor you are doing a great job. Also think that these engines came out in the late 80's early 90's.
Now do take me wrong, I love my ZETEC with all it's torque. The only reason I envy the Honda engines is the ablitity to change valve timimg during high revolution operation. If our engines had this feature, we would be something the f*@$ with.

the answer is that ford is making big power w n/a v8's and apparently they don't care to spend their time trying to make more hp per liter on a 4 cyl. than honda...who cares about hp per liter when the total output is only making 160 hp??? ford's cobra motor is making about 87 hp per liter itself, and i don't think that low tech...and that motor makes over 300 n/a hp....so i'd take the total hp over hp per liter anyday...just my $.02...the honda vtec is the most overated motor there is,who cares how much hp per liter you have when you are getting your a$$ handed to you by an even slightly larger motor..

and if svt is getting 170 hp out of the zetec, then all you zetec guys have hope of building a higher hp motor also..

and if you check out the july car+driver you will see that the focus svt handed the world famous vtec its a$$ in their shootout...

111 ft-lbs. of torque is nothing to be proud of. Yes their cam-changing VVT is a pretty nice design and the HP is good above 4,500RPM, but the added complexity would add cost and the V6 would become more practical in our cars. And you would have some much better torque with 6.

Stick to turbo Zetec...

Not to mention most Honda motors dont make any power until you rev the hell out of it. My buddy has an older Civic Si, and there is absolutely no feeling of acceleration, it revs all day, but has no real get-up-and-go. Hp/L is great, but its TORQUE that gets you moving.
But you guys already know that
