I will try to make this short, since I am tired. But, as I was coming home this evening, i decided to exceed the speed limit by about 35 mph on a long straight-away (in a 30 mph resid. zone), and i get to about 60-62 mph, and i hear... EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!. It is a constant noise, and isn't the sound of my formerly squeaky springs, much louder, and constant until below 60 mph. I let off the gas, and coast, and the noise fades out. I have never heard this until today, and luckily I never travel on the interstate. I don't know if this will get worse, where its coming from, how it will affect my future driving. I am scared. Does anyone have the slightest clue what this might possibly be?
Thanks,
Ty

Actually, its the Duratec V6, but i wasn't going full throttle either. I believe the sound might've stopped, though. But it wasn't just me...i mean...i'm not crazy .

Don't go so fast in a residential zone...It was your Contour telling you to slow down....

Probably your serpentine belt squealing. Is it in good condition? Might be due for a change, or your idler/tension pulley might be going south for the winter....Check it out...

You're probably right since my contour knows me well and vice versa. This was the first time that this squeeling occured as I have sped in that area before. However, I don't speed there anymore, for the most part, as a family member was pulled over yesterday in that exact area for speeding. I haven't really checked on those (thx for the suggestion), because my main priority is to replace those shot rear drums of mine. It hasn't squealed since, but the next time it does, I will look into it.
