Yea, sure he wasnt the type to race. It IS in fact a Z06...guess the C5 wasnt fast enough!! Let alone the nitrous
Being from that area, I can vouch it is extremely easy to get into a street race. South Florida loves cars so its common to see awesome ones everywhere. The roads are very smooth and straight with which makes it pretty hard to screw up. If you do it responsibly, it is safe. The only risk is pedestrians and merging cars, in which case you should not be racing on a street during a time of day that poses risks like that.
Street racing is not as dangerous as the stupidity behind it. Ive done it and will do it in the future, only on roads that permit it. There is NO need to go past 70mph because by that time, the point has been made and its usually obvious who won. Even worse are the people who do it on tiny residential roads. Idiots like the aforementioned are too proud to shut it down and leave themselves room for error. By the looks of the damage he was going much faster than he needed to be. A Z06 can brake from 60-0 in under 120 feet, which even if he did not come to a complete stop, he could have reduced the consequences from death down to a fender bender had he just use his head.
Im sick of society treating auto enthusiasts like we are criminals because of a few idiots. Be smart and lets stop giving the media reasons to exploit what brings us together in the first place.
