Is there any way to hook them up to a remote switch, so i can turn them on when i want? Like when i'm trying to cool my engine at the track?

Actually it didn't disappear, simply moved to page 2, not exactly a galaxy far, far away. BTW you can set your preferences to display more than the default 10 parent posts/page. Re your original post: Anything is possible, but the biggest problem I see with your mod is the fact that PCM controls fans on/off cycle based on info it receives from coolant temp sensor. With key-out PCM would be sleeping, so fans would have to be either timed off or remote off. Using the trunk remote signal (thereby losing that function) and a timer might be the easiest. Alternately you could dispense with remote and simply have fans wired to have them stay on for a preset time after ignition-off. My $.02

I think he was referring to a way to turn on the fans while driving anytime he wanted to. I have thought about this since I say the original post, and I have figured out a way to do it in my head, I just have to check a couple of things, and I am sure it would be possible to turn on both low and high with a manual switch without affecting the PCM control. In fact I am 100% positive it can be done, but first, I must find out if the relays that control the fans are activated by a NH or NL line. Then I can select the correct component setup to activate these relays. Once I know if the relays are activated by grounding, or by applying power, it is simple from there. I havnt had the time to go out and check yet. If anyone knows how to do this, if you could provide that info, I could provide a simple cicuit diagram to show you how to build what is needed. I think this is a great idea, and would like to do it to my car as well... What switch setup would be prefered, IE, one switch to arm your manual system, and a two way switch for high/low, or two switches, one to turn on high, and the other to turn on low. OR please suggest a switch setup.

Why would anyone want to do that? When car is moving fast you don't need fans as air movement cools rad much faster than fans could.

Correct me if I'm wrong,
but doesn't turing on the AC turn the fan(s) on?
And I think he's looking for a way to turn the fan(s) on between runs at a track, not while driving.
I beleive its a high signal that turns the fan relay on.
A simple switch inline between the battery and the fan power line will work, wouldn't be good if the ECU decided to activate the relay while the switch was on, send 24V instead of 12V to the fan and fry the motor.
I use this setup at the track, between runs on shutoff the car and turn the fan on.

Thanks for your help guys. The basic function would be to cool my engine after a run at the track, or while waiting in line to run, with the car "off". I was thinking about just using a simple on/off switch function. I didn't even know they had a high/low setting. Any switch setup would work. Thanks again.

As I think was mentioned earlier, using the fans with the engine off does nothing but cool the water in the radiator. If you want to actually cool the engine, you need an electric water pump, and a manual switch to run the fans. In answer ot the guy who claims you will get 24V at the fan, I got some news for ou, things just dont work that way What COULD happen is that you fry your ECU, though that is unlikely. There are ways to protect against this, however. As far as why, I would like th fans to come on a little sooner, especially sitting in SOCAL traffic for hours, with the engine idling and getting hot so fast, Heat soak is a real issue here, and I would like to be able to hit the fans when I want, not just when it starts to get hot

2 12V sources going to the same connection will yield 24V at that spot.
The relays should be one way, so that there is no chance of feedback frying the ECU.
Having the fan on does cool the engine a bit, but not very much.
An electric water pump would very much be the way to go.

I'm not trying to start anything here, but you have NO understanding of electronics and electricity. I supose my 12 years of experience and 8 years of school don't count, right? If you could show me how to get 24 Volts from 12 Volts (without ADDING circuitry), you would be an instant billionaire!!! Without using a transformer, there is now way to change the voltage from 12V. I don't care if you put 1000 12V lines to one thing, it will still only get 12V As a further suggestion, take some time to study OHMs law, perhaps that will make it clearer to you. I will not repsond further to your comments of this nature, as your complete lack of understanding this subject makes me unable to have a conversation with you. No offense, just stating a fact. I wouldnt expect to argue about surgury with a doctor So please don't argue electrics with me. Thanks for yourunderstanding.
