Hey Simon,
I had the same problem. Like was suggested above, I knocked out the studs, and made the holes on the mount into "slots" that go to the end of the tips on the mount. It took 5 minutes, and works like a charm. There is more than enough material on the edges of the slot to keep everthing together.
